Mayor Clark grew up in Frewsburg, New York and obtained his first college degree, an Associates
Degree in Engineering Science, from Jamestown Community College in 1975. He obtained a B.S. in
Civil Engineering from the University Of Colorado in 1978, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University at Raleigh in 1981, and is currently working on his Ph.D. at North Carolina State University.
Clark has worked in industry for approximately eight years and in higher education for over twenty years. His
industrial experience includes working as a Class D Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator in Colorado, design work, materials engineering, working for R.M. Brown Engineering in Jamestown, NY as a Civil Engineer on roads, drainage studies, bridges and water systems; and working for Law Engineering in Saudi Arabia as a Construction Materials Engineer, Department Manager, Branch Manager, and General Manager of the total Saudi Arabian operation. His experience in higher education has all been at Alfred State College where he has taught as a Civil Engineering Technology Professor since 1990 and has been Dean of the Applied Technology Campus in Wellsville since 1996.
He has lived in Alfred since 1990 while employed at Alfred State College. His wife of over twenty eight years is Judy Van Loon Clark, originally of Livonia New York. They have three boys: Travis, Justin and Derrick. Travis is a graduate of Alfred State College and works as a programmer at Dresser Rand, Justin is attending Alfred State College in the Construction Management program, and Derrick attends Alfred Almond High School.
