Amid Ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, Governor Cuomo Issues Executive Order To Make Sure Every New Yorker Automatically Receives A Postage-Paid Absentee Ballot Application.

NY State has yet to issue guidance on local/ village elections. As soon as that is issued, that information will be made public.

Daily update moving to weekly email newsletter

The Village of Alfred is launching a weekly email newsletter for the duration of the COVID-19. Information relevant to our community, community resources, events and information from the county and state will be published here. The newsletter will arrive in inboxes on Monday afternoons. This newsletter will replace the daily updates currently published on the website, and on our social media. The situation is evolving less rapidly. The need for information is still clear, but we also don’t want to burden our neighbors with information fatigue. The public can access the newsletter on our facebook page, and will be able to read the latest edition of the newsletter on our website. The public will also be able to subscribe directly on our website. Once we are able to return to some of business as usual, the weekly newsletter will become monthly- and then we hope quarterly. The weekly newsletter is by no means a meant to compete

with the valuable institution that is the Alfred Sun. The newspaper is a vital piece of our community and we are grateful for it. PUBLIC NOTICE: Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and restrictions on public gatherings the Village of Alfred understands the challenges presented in attending the online public hearing. In an effort to provide every opportunity for our community to ask questions and discuss concerns; the Village of Alfred is extending an invitation to the public to contact the Village via phone or email with any questions or concerns regarding the Village Budget. All questions will be addressed in the public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at 7:30pm via Zoom.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Alfred Village Board of Trustees will hold a Public Hearing on the 2020-2021 Budget on Tuesday April 28, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. with a vote on the budget to follow. Public comment on the budget will be received up to 5:00 p.m. Friday April 24, 2020. Following the Governor’s decree of no public gatherings, Village Trustees will move this Public Hearing online. The hearing will be recorded and transcribed. This hearing is open to the public. The budget is posted on the Village website alfredny.org and hard copies are available in the Village Hall during their normal business hours – Mon. 9-12, Tues. 1-4, Wed 9-12 and 1-4 and Thur. 9-12. To register for the public hearing, please send an email to info@alfredny.org with the subject line “budget meeting registration”. To allow the maximum window for registration, the deadline for registering is Monday, April 27, 2020 at 10 p.m. You will receive a return email with a link to join just after 10 p.m. on Monday evening.
